Evaluation for spaghetti bridges

Last Wednesday our whole diploma group had to build a spaghetti bridge; with 24 pieces of spaghetti; 10 marshmallows; one paper clip; one envelope. We all had to have different jobs to do .I for example had to keep in track of the equipment we used; we had to have a certain amount of spaghetti and a certain amount of marshmallows as I said in the beginning .Others had roles like being leaders (lead the group), builders (build the bridge), researchers (find useful info on how to build the bridge), designers(design a template of the bridge on a specific software)

Marks out of ten for some of the team member’s roles:

Leader-Ben: I give him 9, because he did very well on leading the group telling them what to do and e.t.c., but he did go off task for a couple of times like ..(Playing games) In general I should say he did very well.

Equipment –me : I give myself 7 ,because I did my job handed out appropriate equipment ,but once or twice I didn’t keep in track with the equipment left un used and other members of the group sneaked into the cupboard and ate the spaghetti. But at the end I did well so I’m not quite sure, but I give myself 7.(I was a little bossy I should say ..is that a good thing ?)

Designer –William: I give him 9, because he put a lot of effort into our design he did very well .The thing is when we actually got to build the bridge it went good except some dimensions and parts went a little wrong and the bridge didn’t hold itself fully, so the solution was for the builders to come up with more ideas/additions to the bridge to make it stronger .That was the reason I gave him 9.

Researcher-Tom I give him 6-7, because his job was to research and find other examples on how other people build the bridges .His main target was to pass the information to the leader and share it with whole group, he didn’t .I did see him doing his research on intranet but I didn’t see hi printing it or sharing it with whole group. At the end his work wasn’t used and it ended as in we didn’t even need a researcher, because his research wasn’t used.

Scribe –Emily: I give her 9, because her job was to write on the board and concentrate on her job so she doesn’t make any mistakes; people’s jobs; what equipment to use; leader’s notes; builder’s notes e.t.c.
Back to my point I gave her 9 ,because she did her job but she wasn’t concentrating on her work for quite a while which meant she didn’t really did the job she was given …Altogether she did very well as I gave her 9.

Conclusion: everyone in the group did very well indeed no matter if they did a couple of mistakes. We all worked in together very well and that’s what the main target of our activity was.

I do have to apologise if I was little over the top on the grades I gave on my evaluation of different roles in the group, but in the end I was only being honest

Thank you for reading
